Diagnosed with cancer – my story

Today, I was asked by one of my facbook friends the back story behind my diagnoses eg the discovery, symptoms, reaction and my first dealings with the doctors etc and how I decided to not follow their protocol? This I always cover in my seminars. A little in my book and some info scattered on my web page. When saying all this, I have never really written about it – talked heaps about it, but never written, and asked a few times to do so. I did not want to go into all the detail in my book at the time, because I guess in some ways I felt it better dealing with the positive side of my reovery and sharing the protocols with others rather than looking at the past. I also now know that it will inspire others to take care of their own health by knowing the back story so to speak of my diagnoses.

So here goes.

My first contact with melanoma was in 2001 when I had a doctor remove a mole from my back. He rang me the next day and told me I needed to come back into his surgery because I had a little melanoma and he needed to cut a larger circle around the mole. I went back in the nex day and he reported the following day that he had gotten it all and all was well. The doctor in question failed to tell me at this time that it was a stage IV.

So I went on my merry way without any further thought or worry. I might like to add this doctor was not my usual doctor – I usually had chosen doctors who where holistic in their approach to healing and had not needed to see one for some time.

In 2005 my husband Wayne and I were going through a lot of business stress with people owing us huge sums of money (millions) and being in the building industry at the time, that in itself was stressful wthout dealing with dishonest people. My body became very acidic because stress will do that to us. At this time the melanoma decided to spread thoughout my body.

Strangley enough, every year I used to place myself on a juice fast and used to feel wonderful after. I think this is why the melanoma stayed dormant for some time. eventualy I discovered my neck was swelling and it appeared I had a lump under the skin together with feeling breathless when going up stairs so I decided to see my new doctor who had been successfully helping me with Chronic Fatigue. With her help I was able to do competition ballroom dancing. So being breathless going up stairs when I was so fit was odd.

The next thing I knew I was having every scan and test under the sun including a fine needle biopsy- which was very stressful and caused huge anxiety. Once the results came in, I was sent to the oncologist who informed my family and I that my time was up. Not in such a blunt way, but the result was going to be the same. When I asked what the prognosis was he said 12 months if I was lucky. I had tumours in my lymph nodes, one large one behind the aorta and others on the lungs. From this tinme on I could not go to the doctor without someone crying because they ALL thought I was dying. Not a great way to live ones life or feel empowered. My doctor was trying all sorts of treatments. Every day she would hook me up on a machine that was supposed to help with the oxygen levels and more. I was getting somewhat beside myself with all this intense help. I could not even go to dance practice because I could not cope with communicating with people.

One morning I woke up and decided enough was enough. I took control – I stopped going to the doctor and took myself into nature and worked on affirmations to get rid of the subliminal messages that I was going to die and worked with my Angels. This was to be my first step of self helaing. Then I concentrated on the nutrition side of things. I realised that whilst I was going off to the doctor with the hope everyone else would fix me, I was never going to heal. Once I embraced Faith, then all is history – I became well and changed the way I feed my body nutrition – not just on a dietary level – also body and soul. Meditation was essential to calming the mind.

You might also ask why did I not want to follow the normal medical protocols? That question is an easy one for me. My husband Wayne had beaten cancer in 1980, four years prior to us meeting and he got over his cancer by using nutrition on all levels also. Meditation and visualization, right exercise etc.

Also suffering from Chronic Fatigue, I knew that the only time I felt amazing was when I was practicing good health protocols. I beleive that the body is a machine that needs the right fuel. Today, I am healthy, still get a little tired from time to time when I overdo things (because I am not one to just sit around) due to the Epstien Barr virus being active in my system since 1987 – I do live well with this situation and pull myself back when needed together with supporting myself the the correct nutritional supplements in times of stress.

We all need to take responsiblity for our own health. We do not need to be a statistic. The power is in all of us.
